Porcelain Veneers
These wafer-thin, shell-like structures are custom-made to each tooth before being cemented into position. The process for getting veneers usually takes place over a few appointments. Your dentist will need to prepare your teeth for the veneers before creating impressions of your teeth for their manufacture. Once ready, your dentist will ensure the perfect fit and then cement them in place.
Porcelain veneers are exceptionally durable with a very life-like aesthetic. The way porcelain reflects light is like how a natural tooth would. It also has a high resistance to staining. With good care, porcelain veneers are long-lasting.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers are applied directly to your teeth, layer by layer. They are then shaped and cured by your dentist. Unlike porcelain veneers, composite veneers do not need pre-treatment tooth preparation. The process for getting composite veneers usually takes place in one appointment.
Composite veneers aren’t quite as durable as porcelain veneers. But, chips, cracks and other damage are repairable. Composite veneers may be a great option if you only need a few teeth touched up. They also provide a more cost-effective treatment option.
