Crowns And Bridges
Crowns And Bridges
Our dental team knows that the poor function or appearance of a tooth can negatively impact your life.
It may make it difficult to eat, speak and smile, as well as hinder your oral health. If you have a damaged or missing tooth that is causing problems for you, we can help.
Crowns and bridges are prosthetic devices that our dentists use to restore damaged teeth or replace a missing tooth. They are made of porcelain and gold alloy or entirely of porcelain. Porcelain is strong and stain-resistant. Gold alloy is strong and durable. Gold alloy and porcelain are well-tolerated by the body.
We’re one of the only dentists in the Adelaide Hills with an onsite dental lab. This means we have full control over the manufacturing of our crowns and bridges. We pride ourselves on being able to offer you the highest quality of standards and fast turnaround times.
Crowns
Do you have a tooth that is worn, severely decayed, fractured or heavily filled, for example? A crown may be a suitable treatment option for you. A crown caps your tooth, restoring it to its former look, function and feel. After your initial consultation, getting a crown usually requires a further two appointments. Depending on your specific case, the appointments needed may differ.
In the first appointment, your dentist will prepare your tooth for the crown. This involves removing any damage or decay, and reshaping the foundation for supporting the crown. You’ll have a temporary crown placed to protect your tooth while we make your permanent crown in our dental lab.
Once your crown is ready, you’ll have your second appointment for the fitting. Your dentist will check your bite and make any adjustments you may need before cementing your crown into place.
Bridges
If you have a missing tooth, our dentists may recommend a bridge as a solution. A bridge consists of a prosthetic tooth which is attached between two crowns on your neighbouring teeth. Our bridges are made from porcelain and fused to metal, or made completely from porcelain. This offers you both lasting strength and a natural-looking finish.
After your consultation, the process of getting a bridge generally requires two appointments. But, as each case is unique, this can differ from one patient to another.
The first step is preparing the surrounding teeth that will be supporting the bridge. Your dentist will then create a mould of your teeth and help you choose the perfect shade of white for your bridge. It’ll then be manufactured in our dental lab. The final step is the fitting of your bridge. During this appointment, your dentist will make any adjustments before securing it into place.
We have a wide range of restorative and cosmetic dental treatments available to have you smiling with confidence again.
